As a birthday present to myself I was able to get the birth control contraceptive of my dreams – the ParaGard copper IUD.

Before I went into the procedure I took a quick video of my thoughts about the non-hormonal IUD and the troubles I went through just to get it. Since I’ve use numerous birth control methods, I am so glad I was finally able to get this IUD as an alternative to female sterilization!

Please let me know what you think about my first vlog or your thoughts about the IUD contraceptive in the comments. I’d love to know your troubles with getting an IUD as a childfree person. :o)

I have heard many people talk about the absolute necessity that women need to have a companion. Whether this companion is human or animal, women just feel the urge to care-take and not be alone.

Now I find that very “needy” and unreliant on ones-self ability to keep occupied, but I think I understand now. I’ve been broken up with my boyfriend for over a month now and I found that my last “time of the month” was just so incredibly difficult for me. Upon calling my mother she told me that sever depression and sporadic crying is just an inherent craziness. Thanks mom.

Their hormones tell them there is absolutely no way for us to survive the rest of the day unless we conceive right then and there. I find this very interesting that we have been programed to feel needy right when we are most vulnerable.

To tell you the truth, I would rather get a cute puppy than a screaming baby to be my companion. At least this way I can have fun while I’m feeling needy, as opposed to staring at the baby staring back at me. That doesn’t sound fun or exciting at all.

I’m pretty much curious as well as confused about the whole Female Sterilization procedure.

I am curious because:

  • I do not like putting all those extra hormones in my body every day.
  • I want to be sure I’m not going to get pregnant.
  • I do not want to have kids now and I don’t foresee me having kids in the future.

But then I’m also confused because:

  • I am going to be permanently altering my body. (Even tattoos scare me)
  • It’s a surgery! What if something goes wrong?!

Since I don’t have medical insurance to help fix me if anything goes wrong and I don’t have the money to pay for it, I would rather opt for a copper IUD.

I would rather be responsible for being on birth control then believing the guy is doing everything right. Since I would be the one having to deal with the “mistake” I’d rather prevent any mistakes before they start.

The types of birth control I’ve practiced varies:

  • The Pill (Yaz, Ortho Tri-cyclen Lo, Loestrin)
  • The NuvaRing
  • A diaphragm
  • Birth control patch
  • Female condom / male condom
  • Coitus Interruptus

And I refuse to use the shot or the implants. eww creepy

The type of birth control I really want to use is to have an IUD.  But because of my age and the fact that I never had given birth, the people at Planned Parenthood don’t really want me to use it.  And that makes me very sad…they don’t want to make me happy. Maybe I should give them an ultimatum; either give me ParaGard or Sterilize me permanently. Then we’ll see what they say. muahaha
